Day 10, Photo 10
Day 9, photo 9
This is a plant in my parents garden. We were having some issues and this plant captured my attention as I took a breather. It's so delicate and the buds are twisted. Seemed like a metaphor for what was happening at the time.
Day 8
No photo :( I was driving most of the day. Family issues 400 kms north of me meant I picked up my niece who arrived in town from her home some hours south, threw her into the car and headed north.

Day 6, Photo 6
Outside my living room window this evening I noticed the birds were utilizing the wet leaves to bath. We had a brief shower, contrary to the weather forecast which has been threatening storms today. It was enough to give the greenery a little sprinkle but that's about the extent of it. The sun came out in the early evening burning off the grey overcast day and we were treated to a gorgeous sunset.
That's when the birds came out and started weaving thru the leaves.

Day 5, photo 5
Tonight we have a Cass eye view of the world. Cass is my cat, she's fairly ancient as far as cats go, nearly 18 years old. My husband got her for me as a birthday present when she was 6 weeks old. Cass is a hunter and a scrapper. She likes to sit on the arm of my chair if she can't sit in my lap. This is as close as I can get to her view of our cosy arrangement. she has a pretty good view from where she sits. No doubt she is not pleased that the folded washing obscures her view of the far corner.Tuesday, January 4, 2011
Day 4, Photo 4
Today's photo's are from a day spent with my husband. He was on call all through the Christmas break, today being the last day. We were out shopping when the pager went off. The first call was to a rural property, the owner was having an unpermitted rubbish fire.
We attended (he was kind of stuck with me) and the owner was gently educated as to their responsibilities. The second was to a scrub fire, the result of a carelessly disposed of cigarette.
These letterbox's are near a local fire station out in the country. Too picturesque not to take.

Day 3 Photo 3, Ghost town
This afternoon, Great North Rd in Grey Lynn.
During the holidays the city becomes a ghost town as everyone leaves for holiday destinations, usually the beach.
It was such a nice day, I really didn't want to be at work!
I like Auckland this way, it's much easier to get around, the roads and the malls are relatively bearable without people everywhere.
Day 2, Photo 2
Actually, I was driving all day on the 2nd to get home for work on the 3rd, so I cheated a little and took this the day before.
This is the Awaroa River looking into the valley.
Awaroa is where my parents live, between Broadwood and Kaitaia in New Zealand. This to me is summer. It's visiting family, picnics and sunshine.
Day 1, Photo 1 New Years Day fun.

This photo encapsulates the first day of the year. I took the kids to stay with my parents (their grandparents) for New Year. My parents live over 300km away, in the country, so my children don't see them that often. When they visit they like to experience everything rural life has to offer. One of my brothers lives there with his two sons and his partner. Another was visiting with his family.
In the afternoon of the 1st, we took the children down to the river. We threw the net out to catch some fish and relaxed while the children had a mud/water fight on the river bank and in the water.
This is my son, aged 14. It's rare to get a photo with a genuine smile these days, or one of him outdoors for that matter! The grandchildren present ranged in age from 14-9. Seeing him, smothered in mud, smiling hugely and laughing was the perfect start to the New Year.
Project 365
I've decided to try a photographic 365 project. I've taken a photo a day for the past 3 days, some from my Canon EOS 400D, others with my iphone. It's a challenge but if I can achieve it, I may learn something about myself.
